First
Aid Provision
Since November 2003, we
have covered a total of 48 events, treating 95 casualties.
First
Aid Training
We have continued our community
interactions by training two groups of new parents and parents-to-be in
infant resuscitation and choking treatment within the work or home environment.
We have also been involved
in providing the opportunity to learn child resuscitation for Fleet
Library’s children’s storytime session during child
accident prevention week.
Insurance
All our insurance costs
have increased significantly this year, with Medical Indemnity insurance
increasing by over 100%. This has had a serious impact on our finances
and we are very grateful to the organisations that have aided us with donations
for items of equipment.
Equipment
donations
We have had a successful
year for grant applications, resulting in the purchase of:
Pulse
Oximeter (£295 donation from The
Rotary Club of Hart);
Airway
Mannequin (£400 donation from Sir
Jules Thorn Charitable Trust);
and Defibrillator
Resusci-annie (£500 donation from Hart
District Council).
In addition, companies and
individuals of Blackbushe Business Park (co-ordinated by Sonardyne
International Ltd) have raised a total of £1,823 towards the
purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator
which
has just arrived!
Thank you very much everyone. |
Members'
Training
In November, Hester, Graham,
Martin and Gillian were once again successful at the Southern Ambulance
Training College. This included gaining competence in "Assisting
the Paramedic" as well as refreshing their Emergency Responder Clinical
Training Certificates.
Additionally, five members:
Christine, Gillian, Martin, Shirley, and Louise have passed their First
Aid at Work qualification.
February saw six members
of HFR participate in the Southern
Rescue Group training weekend at Goodwood, organised by Brian
Janman. This year we had the opportunity to look round West Sussex
Ambulance/Police helicopter, as well as practice extractions from one of
Renualt's F1 cars using the new HANS system.
Hester has finished her C7407,
gaining a City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Further Education Teaching
(TFE).
