The v Project - "Ambulance crews of the future"

On 20 April 2007, HFR was granted £9,995 to provide young people with an invaluable opportunity to gain skills and experience in volunteering in the pre-hospital care setting.  We are now looking for volunteers (aged 18-25) that we can train as first aiders and ambulance crews of the future.Thank you 2-Ten FM and V for funding our project: "Ambulance crews of the future".

What did this money do?

  • Provided 14 volunteering opportunities for 17-25 year olds
  • Provided 6 first aid at work courses for young volunteers
  • Provided access to ongoing weekly training for all young volunteers
  • Provided advanced pre-hospital training (Emergency Medical Technician course) for 5 young volunteers
  • Provided C1 driver training for 1 young volunteer and C1 theory test for 1 young volunteer.
  • Gave 10 young volunteers the opportunity to practice their pre-hospital skills in a supervised environment in their local community
  • Provided 10 young volunteers with transferable skills in pre-hospital care and driving that will give advantages to those wanting to progress the opportunity of a career in the Ambulance Service.  2 of our young volunteers have since joined South Central Ambulance NHS Trust.
